About
Maria Makaroff studied Furniture at City of Glasgow College, specialising in Furniture Restoration. She is based in Glasgow, with a workshop located at the Govan Project Space.
She values the sustainability of restoration, and has strong an appreciation for past craftsmanship. At a time when the manmade often fails in its longevity and increases the production of waste, furniture restoration offers an alternative.
In addition to these environmental concerns, Makaroff also thinks that furniture and objects hold an important place in people’s homes that goes far beyond functionality. They convey history, memories, personality and beauty. It’s therefore meaningful not only to preserve these items but also to seek them for ourselves, and for others. That’s when the idea of the shop came to mind, where Maria can restore and curate her best finds.
